Always wanted to try sea kayaking but never knew where to start? Here's your chance to try sea kayaking in a warm, calm, and controlled environment. Throughout fall/winter 2011/2012 LearnToSeaKayak.com will be teaching intro clinics at the Deer Lake Recreation Complex. These intro sessions will cover all the basics for complete beginners who are interested in learning more about the activity. A solid rescue is perhaps the single most important skill a paddler can have in their "paddling toolbox". Don't practice your rescues as much as you should? This is your chance to get out and polish up your rescue skills for next season and to learn some new rescues better suited to the situation at hand. Always wanted to learn the ever famous Eskimo Roll? The “eskimo roll” is the best self-rescue method & is sure to enhance your confidence on the water. Join LearnToSeaKayak.com at the Deer Lake Recreation Complex and receive the basis of this impressive technique. Due to nature of technique we limit class size to 4 students per hour. LearnToSeaKayak.com Paddling in Surf Clinic
Cowabunga! Catch the perfect wave! This session is designed to teach the basics of paddling in breaking waves and surf-ultimately allowing you to have more fun and to be safe in the surf. Reading waves, timing and takeoff, surf etiquette, launching and landing, and riding waves are all skills covered in this session. A reliable roll is not mandatory for this session however is highly recommended. Helmets and appropriate immersion clothing are mandatory equipment for this session. We teach this session generally at Western Brook Beach in Gros Morne National Park however inquire about other locations.
Tuition for this session is $60 for 2 hours and a minimum of 2 participants is required. Contact us for further details and dates.

Looking to start a career as a sea kayak guide or just looking for summer employment as a sea kayak guide? This program was designed by LearnToSeaKayak.com in cooperation with Gros Morne Adventures and the Newfoundland Kayak Company. It incorporates elements from the Paddle Canada program in combination with essential skills required in the world of sea kayak guiding. Our inaugural Guide Program will be held early Spring 2012 in anticipation of the 2012 kayak season. Please contact us for details.
