Paddle Canada Intro to Sea Kayaking
This one day accredited course focuses on two important things.  Safety and Fun!  Join us on the Norris Point waterfront for a day filled with instruction aimed at giving  a complete novice the skills to go out and paddle in calm & sheltered conditions with people of the same skill level.  Skills covered in this session includes wet exit, T rescue, and forward stroke. Paddle Canada Safe Sea Kayaking Level I
This weekend long Paddle Canada accredited course forms a solid background for any beginner to intermediate paddler.  The course consists of an evening rescue clinic, a full day of stroke instruction, and a day paddle.  Essential skills learned in this session includes self rescues, T-Rescues, towing, and navigation.  The main focus of this Paddle Canada program is on safety and gaining paddling skills for a day trip within a large bay or sheltered shoreline. Paddle Canada Sea Kayaking Level II
This 6 day long Paddle Canada course prepares the paddler for paddling along moderately exposed coastlines and provides the skills and knowledge to overnight trip in such conditions.  LearnToSeaKayak.com runs this course out of Gros Morne National Park as it offers all the essential environmental elements to challenge participants in surf and current training, overnight tripping, advanced rescues, and rolling.  Course consists of a two night-three day out trip making it a perfect vacation in Gros Morne National Park.    Contact us for further details and course outline.

Paddle Canada Sea Kayaking Level III - Leadership Award
Ready to challenge your leadership skills?  Interested in leading group trips or becoming a sea kayak guide?  This course focuses on fine tuning existing sea kayak skills and applying them in a leadership role specifically with respect to decision making, risk assessment, and judgement when traveling with groups.  Paddle Canada Level II is a prerequisite for this course and participants must come with solid skills in rescues, rolls, strokes, and towing.  Paddle Canada Level III runs in unison with Level II therefore is a 6 day long course and it involves a 2 night 3 day outtrip and is based out of Norris Point in the heart of Gros Morne National Park.   Contact us for further details and course outline.

LearnToSeaKayak.com Intro to Sea Kayaking Pool Session

Always wanted to try sea kayaking but never knew where to start?  Here's your chance to try sea kayaking in a warm, calm, and controlled environment.  Throughout fall/winter 2011/2012 LearnToSeaKayak.com will be teaching intro clinics at the Deer Lake Recreation Complex.  These intro sessions will cover all the basics for complete beginners who are interested in learning more about the activity.  Skills and knowledge covered in this session includes equipment, set up, launching and landing, and wet exits.  Contact us for further details. Don't forget swim attire! 


LearnToSeaKayak.com  Rescue Clinic Pool Session

A solid rescue is perhaps the single most important skill a paddler can have in their "paddling toolbox".  Don't practice your rescues as much as you should?  This is your chance to get out and polish up your rescue skills for next season and to learn some new rescues better suited to the situation at hand.  LearnToSeaKayak.com will be offering rescue clinics at the Deer Lake Recreation Complex throughout the fall/winter of 2011/2012. Always wanted to learn the ever famous Eskimo Roll?  The “eskimo roll” is the best self-rescue method & is sure to enhance your confidence on the water.  Join LearnToSeaKayak.com at the Deer Lake Recreation Complex and receive the basis of this impressive technique.  Due to nature of technique we limit class size to 4 students per hour. Contact us for further details and dates. 


LearnToSeaKayak.com Paddling in Surf Clinic
Cowabunga! Catch the perfect wave! This session is designed to teach the basics of paddling in breaking waves and surf-ultimately allowing you to have more fun and to be safe in the surf. Reading waves, timing and takeoff, surf etiquette, launching and landing, and riding waves are all skills covered in this session.  A reliable roll is not mandatory for this session however is highly recommended.  Helmets and appropriate immersion clothing are mandatory equipment for this session.  We teach this session generally at Western Brook Beach in Gros Morne National Park however inquire about other locations. 
Tuition for this session is $60 for 2 hours and a minimum of 2 participants is required.  Contact us for further details and dates.


LearnToSeaKayak.com Guide Training Program
Looking to start a career as a sea kayak guide or just looking for summer employment as a sea kayak guide?  This program was designed by LearnToSeaKayak.com in cooperation with Gros Morne Adventures and the Newfoundland Kayak Company. It incorporates elements from the Paddle Canada program in combination with essential skills required in the world of sea kayak guiding. Our inaugural Guide Program will be held early Spring 2012 in anticipation of the 2012 kayak season. Please contact us for details.
